An artwork that gave artworks to facilitate creative exchange

Between the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes, 2025, I gave away over 100 artworks made during my 50-year career. Most were framed pieces that had been exhibited multiple times. In exchange, I asked each recipient to live with the work for a while, then send me a digital response to it. The response could take any form—one word, a photo, an essay, a poem, a drawing, a video, animation, or audio piece—but it had to be submitted digitally, either as an email attachment or a link.

Recipients also gave me permission to use their responses, in whole or in part, in Aloft…, an ongoing, ever-evolving video project that is screened publicly when opportunities arise. You can visit the Gallery to see the artworks that were given away, and Aloft… to view the growing video project. Since late September 2025, responses have started coming in, and the video will continue to expand in depth and complexity as more are received.
